What's My Fave Shoe? - Nick Johnson

Nick Johnson, ACSM-CPT

Working (Captaining) at the Springfield Running Center, I often get the question, “What is your favorite shoe to run in?”  At first, being new to the running shoe realm, it was a hard question to answer. But after months of working here, I have narrowed it down to the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37. Being a fan of Nike my entire life, it was actually the first shoe I ever tried here, and it is, to this day, my favorite shoe to run in. Personally, when picking a running shoe, I want something that is light-weight, has enough cushion to protect my joints from the repetitive impact, but also not so much cushion that I feel unstable. The Pegasus gives me all of these things while giving me a great look in a shoe.

Being someone who does a lot of cross training, I have found that the Pegasus 37 gives me the range I need to do it all! The Nike React Foam gives me the cushion, support and responsiveness to be running outside on the pavement, but also gives me the ability to do plyometrics and strength-training without compromising the side to side mobility. The translucent, mesh upper gives you a slim form fitting look while providing nice ventilation for your foot as well.

~ What is Nike React Foam?~

Nike React is an unprecedented foam cushioning innovation and their most responsive foam yet. In fact, Nike React is 11% softer and offers 13% more energy return than their previous softest and bounciest cushioning. It’s also more durable and more lightweight. Basically, Nike React is instant go—a contagious sensation that makes you want to run.
